AHEPA District 12 Governor Message
Greetings, Brother AHEPANS! I hope you are doing well.
First, I want to thank you for your vote of confidence by electing me to be your Hoosier District 12 Governor for 2020-21. I promise that I will do my best.
As we all know, we are in the midst of this terrible virus and there doesn’t seem to be an easy route through the crisis. The reality of life post-COVID-19 has not fully sunk in yet, and its consequences for our fraternity, the economy and the society overall, will play out over the rest of 2020 and beyond.
In crises, the hardest things can be the softest things. There is well underway a growing drive towards digital programming to provide communication with our members worldwide throughout the year. I read somewhere that “COVID-19 is a crucible within which resilient leadership and membership is refined”.
Amidst the crisis, our fraternity’s mission should remain steadfast, which is “To promote the ancient Hellenic ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, family and individual excellence through community service and volunteerism”. Case in point is our recent district convention where we gave out five (5) scholarships to college-bound students.
The necessity of operating differently gives our fraternity the opportunity to understand what we need to do. First and foremost, to educate ourselves.
Strengthen digital capabilities. Be flexible, be adaptive, and be willing to make new choices. Above all, communicate. Nobody has ever been faulted for over-communication!
Stay engaged with our fellow brother AHEPANS, and everyone within our great fraternity, as well as outside AHEPA; be in touch within our respective communities. We need new members, which are the lifeblood of every fraternity, especially ours.
Brothers, we will get through this pandemic, and we must all work together and follow proper guidelines.
So long brothers, and enjoy the summer. As things are improving, I will send a district lodge visitation schedule and will visit your chapter!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. My email is Niarchos-1@sbcglobal.net.
Stay in touch and be safe.
Fraternally,
Panos Niarchos
