AHEPA District 12 Governor Message
Dearest AHEPA Family,
I hope this message finds you well and inspired as we enter a season of reflection, action, and meaningful growth.
Let me begin by stating that AHEPA District 12 extends our deepest condolences to all those involved in the recent Minnesota shootings. District 12 will be donating $250 in support of one young lady, a member of St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church, who was injured during this terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers go out to her and her family during this unimaginably difficult time. As a community, we stand united—not only offering financial support, but also extending strength, compassion, and prayers. May God grant all the victims a full and speedy recovery, and may their loved ones feel the warmth of our collective care.
With the AHEPA National Convention now behind us, I’d like to share part of our new Supreme President Chris Kaitson’s vision—a renewed commitment to growing our chapters through strong, engaged membership. Every member plays a vital role, and the challenge before us is simple: each of us should bring in at least one new member this year.
Why is this important? Because with more voices, more hands, and more hearts, we can expand our reach, deepen our impact, and ensure our cultural and philanthropic legacy thrives for generations to come. Growth is not just about numbers—it’s about building a stronger, more unified AHEPA family.
This week, I’m proud to be initiating a new member into Chapter 78, and I look forward to attending many more initiations throughout our District in the coming months. Be active. Be engaged. Do not wait for others to lead—this is our shared responsibility. Each of us has something valuable to contribute to the success and vitality of the AHEPA Family.
Looking ahead, there are two exciting events I’d like to highlight:
1. “My Big Fat Greek Tailgate” will take place at Indiana University, Bloomington on October 25th. Tickets will go on sale soon and will include entrance to the game vs. UCLA. We are anticipate the presence of Supreme President Kaitson at the event!
2. Plans are also underway to co-host a December Gala with the Daughters of Penelope (Merrillville Chapter). This elegant event will support the Hospice of the Calumet Area, a vital organization providing compassionate end-of-life care in our community. It promises to be a meaningful and memorable evening—and one you won’t want to miss.
In closing, I look forward to meeting more of you during my visits as District Governor and to personally welcoming new faces into our growing family.
With gratitude and brotherhood,
Dr. Phillip Koultourides
